Abstract
This article explores the Shakespeare play Twelfth Night and how it addresses themes such as the expression of gender and sexuality in a comedic but patriarchal society. In more than one play, Shakespeare utilized the theme of cross-dressing, specifically with his female main characters, but why? What do the characters and audiences get out of this sudden change of gender, which adds a new complicated dynamic to the story? Specifically, this thesis explores Viola from Twelfth Night, as well as her male disguise, “Cesario.” How Viola interacts with both male and female characters in the story challenges potentially false beliefs of how gender and sexuality were viewed in the Elizabethan era. There is a distinction between the tolerance and acceptance of gender fluidity; it comes down to the space in which it is being expressed. The modern debate I will be addressing is this: was Shakespeare truly ahead of his time when he played with gender fluidity in his works, or was he simply perpetuating pre-existing misogynistic stereotypes? The answer won’t be black and white, and it will analyze the readings of Shakespeare from both a queer and feminist standpoint. From the seventeenth century until now, there is still much to be discussed about why these plays, Twelfth Night in particular, are still important and socially.

Abstract
This essay examines the long-standing expectation that serious writing must always be formal. Drawing from academic research, military experience, and nonprofit leadership, the paper argues that rigid writing structures often silence authentic voice and discourage meaningful communication. Rather than abolishing formal writing, the essay advocates for a more flexible approach that values audience awareness, storytelling, and personal perspective alongside clarity and structure.

Abstract
This paper explores the widespread use of code-switching and Spanglish among young Hispanic adults in the United States and how these linguistic practices impact their cultural identity. Drawing from personal experience and interviews, I examine how code-switching and Spanglish serve as important communication tools that reflect the complexities of living between two languages and cultures, rather than simply indicating a loss of fluency. This research shows that these linguistic habits help individuals maintain connections to their Hispanic heritage while adapting to their American surroundings.

Abstract
The primary objective of this research is to investigate the educational challenges and support systems for LatinX students with learning disabilities and to propose legislative policies to address these issues. Despite federal protections such as Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504, LatinX students with learning disabilities (LDs) remain undiagnosed, misidentified, and underserved due to cultural stigma, linguistic bias, and inadequate educator training. By applying theories of Critical Race Theory, Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory, and Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory, this research will analyze how intersecting factors such as race, language, socioeconomic status, and disability affect the educational experiences of LatinX students with LDs. This thesis will also review existing literature and identify disparities in diagnosis/identification, placement, and discipline. Drawing from personal experience and academic research, this thesis will propose culturally responsive educator training and increased funding for inclusive resources as legislative strategies to help promote equity in educational settings.

Abstract
Living Histories: A Community-Engaged, Culturally Sustaining Curriculum Model for Middle School Social Studies is a six-week curriculum designed to empower middle school students to explore underrepresented local histories through inquiry, service-learning, and digital storytelling. Drawing from culturally sustaining pedagogy (Paris & Alim, 2017), funds of knowledge (Moll et al., 1992), and place-based learning frameworks (Gruenewald & Smith, 2008), the curriculum centers student identity and community voice as integral to civic and historical understanding. Students engage in oral history interviews, community mapping, and public-facing presentations culminating in a digital “Living Histories Archive.” The project is aligned with Oregon Social Science Standards and includes differentiated supports for multilingual learners. The curriculum integrates academic rigor with participatory public scholarship, offering a replicable, equity-oriented model that advances inclusive civic education. This project also contributes to the professional growth of the author as a reflective curriculum designer and educational leader committed to justice-oriented pedagogy.

Abstract
This study examines the effects of a social cognitive approach to teaching on motivation in a high school art classroom, with the intent of increasing student motivation in class activities to increase genuine interaction with art on the whole. Student reactions in three periods of Drawing 2 were examined using their work responses, personal observations, co-teacher observations, and lesson plan analysis. All data was analyzed through coding using Social Cognitive Theory as the guiding theory. Results show that student motivation increased significantly with increased student choice, relaxed deadlines, and both positive and negative reinforcement strategies. Results are limited due to duration of the study and quantity of participants, but they imply that a Social Cognitive approach is helpful for engaging more students in a classroom in a genuine way. Future studies could examine this approach in different subjects or with a larger range of art class subjects.

Abstract
Drawing from Culturally Relevant Pedagogy as developed by Gloria Ladson-Billings (1995), Dewey’s philosophy of Democratic Education (1916), Paulo Freire’s Critical Pedagogy (2018), the Oregon Department of Education’s Transformative SEL Standards (2023), and a commitment to trauma-informed education as outlined by Paul Gorski, this ARP explores ways to promote critical consciousness by creating and maintaining environments that are earth-conscious, human-conscious, inclusive, purposeful, trauma-informed, and equitable for all students.
The research questions guiding this project are:
What strategies can I use to ensure my teaching is culturally relevant, purposeful, and reflective of students' diverse identities, experiences, and needs, including those of LGBTQIA+ students?
In what ways can I integrate principles of democratic education and critical pedagogy to foster inclusivity, social justice, critical consciousness, and a strong sense of community among all students?

Abstract
Inmate classification systems serve as fundamental tools within U.S. correctional institutions, aiming to balance institutional safety with inmate well-being. Prior research highlights the pivotal role these systems play in determining housing placements, access to rehabilitative programs, and overall correctional outcomes. However, classification methods vary widely across jurisdictions, and challenges such as systemic bias, inconsistent implementation, and limited rehabilitative access persist.
This study investigates how different inmate classification systems influence safety and well-being within correctional settings. Drawing from a comprehensive literature review of peer-reviewed research, government reports, and policy analyses, the study analyzes the design, implementation, and outcomes of classification models used across U.S. facilities. The research focuses on evaluating the comparative effectiveness of static versus dynamic classification systems and considers how classification decisions impact both institutional operations and inmate rehabilitation.
Findings reveal that dynamic, data-informed classification models significantly reduce institutional violence and improve access to rehabilitative programming. Facilities that reassess inmate classifications based on behavior and engagement in programs report improved institutional stability and lower recidivism rates. Conversely, systems that rely on static, punitive classifications are associated with increased tension, reduced program access, and higher rates of re-offending. The study also identifies systemic disparities, particularly affecting racial and socioeconomic minorities, who are more frequently assigned to high-security classifications and subsequently denied rehabilitative opportunities.
This research contributes to the growing body of scholarship advocating for equitable and evidence-based correctional practices. It showcases the importance of regular classification reassessment, staff training, and the integration of mental health and educational factors into classification protocols. By highlighting the limitations of traditional approaches and promoting dynamic, rehabilitative-focused frameworks, this study provides actionable insights for policymakers, correctional administrators, and practitioners seeking to reform institutional practices and improve correctional outcomes nationwide.

Abstract
The work readiness gap in ASL–English interpreting has persisted for decades, leaving many novice interpreters unprepared for professional practice and national certification. Despite efforts by interpreter educators, professional organizations, and training programs to enhance educational standards and implement community-based learning, the transition from interpreter training programs (ITPs) to independent professional practice remains a significant challenge. This professional project examines the need for mandatory supervised practice postgraduation and as a prerequisite for the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf’s National Interpreter Performance Exam, drawing from structured training models in education, occupational therapy, and counseling. Grounded in the integrated developmental model (IDM) developed by Stoltenberg et al. (1987), this proposal explores how structured supervision can support interpreters in navigating the shift from student to professional. The historical evolution of interpreter education, the impact of legislative changes, and the absence of standardized supervision requirements are examined in comparison to other practice professions. An analysis of the effectiveness of structured supervision and postgraduate training highlights the need for a formalized induction period to better prepare interpreters for real-world challenges. Establishing nationally standardized supervision requirements would ensure that interpreters develop the necessary skills, ethical decision-making abilities, and professional judgment before certification.

Abstract
This paper was written in an attempt to explore and examine the causes of period poverty in the United States, specifically in the state of Oregon. This paper also delves specifically into how this issue affects students in Oregon and ways to alleviate the effects of period poverty, starting in schools. Drawing from global health reports, women’s health organizations, medical journals, and the Oregon Department of Education, this study points to both the pros and cons of current-day solutions to determine what has been successful in helping to manage the period poverty crisis as well as offering suggestions for improvements that could be made after taking data into account. It discusses period stigma, and how it directly relates to period poverty. It also presents a call to action, encouraging other states to consider implementing support that directly affects the decrease in experiencing the negative consequences of period poverty after analyzing best practices. It is concluded with personal connections and conclusions from the perspective of a newly licensed teacher reflecting on student impact.

Abstract
My interest in this project is something I have had for most of my life. I have always been interested in art and creating things that are unique to me. Unlike before, my parents greatly encouraged this interest because I had shown extreme interest in it. I took my first art class in middle school, and that was where I got a good idea of what I liked besides saying that I liked "art" in general. I liked drawing, specifically with a pencil. From there, I took more classes in high school that helped grow my interest in drawing and the different styles of creating pictures and images. To narrow down my interest in portraits that would come later in my first year of college where I made my first self-portrait. It was not something I was particularly proud of. However, it has been something that has driven this need to practice this ability and eventually create a piece I am proud to say is mine. Today I am currently an art major. I have taken many drawing classes to continue to practice drawing and hone my artistic skill. This class was my inspiration for following the idea of portraiture. I have found an interest in creating the human form as I see it before me, and a readily
available model is one's self. As a person, I will constantly be changing as I get older, especially in my views of myself. By creating a self-portrait, I will have a piece that not only depicts me as I am today but will hold a piece of today's self to look back on in the future that will most likely not be able to be recreated.

Abstract
This professional project explores the potential benefits and challenges of integrating makerspaces into rural elementary schools. Makerspaces offer experiential learning opportunities beyond worksheets and screen time, a more student-driven approach supported by both the tenets of constructivism and constructionism. This learning style can deepen students' understanding of core concepts and engagement in STEM and other academic subjects. School-based makerspaces also benefit students by introducing 21st-century skills such as communication, collaboration, and problem-solving in elementary schools. The maker movement, which began in the early 2000s, encourages participants to design, build, and experiment with various materials and tools. Adopting a school setting provides an integrated education option for schools and their teachers. While makerspaces have become increasingly popular in urban and suburban areas, rural schools face unique challenges when implementing them.
Drawing on existing literature and information collected from rural school educators allows the identification of critical strategies for overcoming these challenges and increasing opportunities for integrating makerspaces into rural elementary schools. Creating a dynamic website to support educators in bringing maker education to their schools is outlined. This site contains resources for funding, lessons, projects, and research to support implementation. Educators are also encouraged to have a voice by asking questions and posting resources themselves. In addition, I have also facilitated multiple professional development sessions designed to familiarize rural teachers with the implementation of makerspaces. Through careful planning, collaboration, and creative use of resources, makerspaces can be integrated into rural schools. When successful, this integration provides students with engaging and enriching learning experiences that prepare them for success in a rapidly changing world.

Abstract
This proposed study will examine the ways in which junior police officers perceive the stigma of emotional stress, and in turn how the stigma is perceived by more seasoned officers. Is the stigma all that stands in the way of officers accessing professional services to help them develop ways to cope with the stress accumulated in their official capacities? What, exactly, is at the root of the perceived stigma regarding professional counseling or the need to seek assistance? Drawing on personal observation and interviews with officers at the Oregon Department of Public Safety and Training, this study will explore the stigma related to seeking help, for the purpose of understanding the perceptions of Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) regarding emotional stress from the standpoints of new officers as they begin their training and continue in their careers.

Abstract
In rural Polk county the Heritage Museum of Independence preserves and displays over 175 years of history and maintains a connection to the local community through exhibiting surrounding community history to the broad public. Drawing upon participant observation and oral interviews I investigate how museums as institutions are influenced by the surrounding population and how the institution serves community needs through civic support and respect. As an entity funded by the city of Independence and supported by the Heritage Museum Society, this paper explores the Heritage Museum's mission and development of new ways in preserving the historical and cultural collections of oral history, art, and artifacts, which may not always fit appropriately with the museum's overall mission statement, donated by citizens of the mid-Willamette Valley. Interning for the Heritage Museum enhanced my appreciation for historical preservation. Collaborating with museum staff and society members, local support is rebuilt through special events such as the first annual birthday celebration, curation of a Native American exhibit, and a reestablished oral history project.

Abstract
The break from the Catholic Church and the formation of the Anglican Church of England in 1547 resulted in a tumultuous eighty-year period of redefining church doctrine. In the 1620s, the Church of England recognized that it still lacked cohesion and sound doctrine; thus, King Charles I (r. 1625-1649) and Archbishop William Laud (1633-1641) sought to bring the diverse ideas and sects of Christianity together under one unified church. Other historians have touched upon the concept of sacred space in England during this period; I argue that debates of sacred space are embedded in these attempts at unifying the Anglican church’s theological identity. Laud, largely inspired by the theology of Dutchman Jacobus Arminius, reintroduced the notion of the “beauty of holiness” to the Church of England; however, many who were steadfast in their Protestantism feared Catholicism was coming back. Drawing upon the Church of England’s visitation articles and injunctions, sermons, and personal writings of Laud, many of the changes occurring concerned the standardization of physical space and sounds appropriate for church services. Organ music, psalm and hymn singing returned to churches – unsettling many Puritans who relied solely on preaching from the Bible. The largest controversy ensued over the placement of the communion table and the reintroduction of altars. After years of instability, the Church of England's highest authorities desired to develop a stronger, reformed theological identity specifically through the standardization of physical space and the soundscape, demonstrating the struggles of a kingdom seeking church reform yet divided by religion.

Description

Ink drawing of three men performing on a low stage with listeners crouched near the front.
Written around the edge of the drawing, "The Hillbilly Ramblers, a trio of Texas boys putting on a show at the Red Cross building. Their show was cut short when our outfit was summoned back to their quarters presumably to ship out of here. The show, what there was of it was quite corny but amusing nevertheless. Particularly outstanding was a number written and spoken by the violinist. It was appropriately titled 'The Talking Blues.' The scene is the Kunai corner of the Red Cross building. Saturday, Nov. 14, 1944."
Maurice explained, a lot of the guys formed bands and The HillBilly Ramblers were one of them. Professional entertainers who had been drafted would put on shows. The replacement depot had some very talented people and they practiced their trade on down time. A memory Maurice shared was that the living quarters were built on top of cliff with the garage for all the army vehicles below. One time while sun tanning, there was a man sitting in mid-air; he was actually on a high wire practicing his craft.

Verso: "Your Horoscope for March" "Mar 1 - 20 Pisces" "Pisces seeks salvation within himself, striving always for self-sufficiency, self-knowledge and effacement of self. His aim is deep and worthy, and if he does not succeed, it is because of the difficulty of the goal rather than because he does not try. His early aim appears material, because he knows instinctively that the search for self goes on most successfully if physical wants are not a source of worry. But he is not always equipped by nature for the give-and-take of commerce, and often feels himself a failure when he should not. His 'Failure' is more often than not that of a square peg in a round hole. When he finds his noncommercial place of service, love, understanding, he goes far toward the deep kind of satisfaction that is his personal, and therefore true, success. Because his aim is different, he tries ill-advisedly to accommodate himself to what he thinks he ought to be instead of following what his heart and instinct tell him. And because he wishes deeply to do the right thing, he becomes bewildered and lost in the business of living. It all comes about because he has allowed himself to be distracted from his true desires--and because in following ab uncongenial and unfamiliar path his feet stumble. He thinks he is misunderstood--but this is true only because he misunderstood himself, tried to pal himself off for something that he wasn't, and found he didn't have the heart to go through with it. When he is being his truest, deepest self he is crystal clear--unselfish, sweet, lovable, devoted, demanding little, giving much, eager always to sacrifice himself for others. It is only in the presence of the material world, when he tries to submerge the sweetness which he may come to be ashamed of, that he is unhappy. It is then he becomes demanding, jealous, unreliable [sic], self-deceived, and perhaps even deceptive--because he is trying to force his meditative spirit into a harness where it must try to be something it isn't. Let Pisces follow his heart, his conscience, his inner desire for service, self-realization and self-knowledge, and the world be damned, and he is the happiest, most useful of mortals, living comfortably with deep spiritual truths that give him an almost mystic grip on other people and on the reins of his own life."
Maurice explained that any scrap of paper was used to do a drawing or sketch. Horoscope on the back is connected to his birthday on the 11th of March. He must have found a horoscope somewhere and used it for the drawing.

Items of use for amusement were often stolen by natives so they always had someone keep watch or locked up anything they wanted to keep. The natives loved American newspapers because they could use them to roll into long cigarettes because they could roll an almost two foot long cigarette. Any newspaper page that had a colored comic strips was priceless for them.

Description
WWII-Natives/New Guinea.
Ink drawing of a native (upper torso, shoulders, and head). Labeled, "Raroro."
Maurice explained this native posed for him who worked on a plantation. The British had a number of coconut, and banana plantations; they would put a tax on some of the coastal natives and require the tax payment in money. They would take them from their village and move them work on a plantation, where they would stay there until they made enough money to pay the tax. The tags this native is wearing is a plantation identification tag. The earrings were newspapers or comic strips tucked in extended ear lobes.
Maurice describes this drawing in his letter dated 1944-11-26_27 saying, "In the sketch of Raroro (that was the name given on his dog tag) that roll he was protruding from his left ear lobe is a roll of paper just for [scratched out word] ornament. The lobe and the complete edge of his right ear are pierced by small colored rings. They completely circle the ear. Just above that, sticking out of his hair is the end of a native comb. I haven’t shown it very well. They are made of split bamboo and are smoothing like this: [sketch of comb] when I first saw one I thought it was a fish hook. These natives put anything colorful on their hair. Raroro [scratched out word] had no decoration in his hair but had the top dyed red."

Maurice explained the lister bag was supposed to purify the water. You would hang a bag with spigots at the bottom, filled with water. Chlorine was put in the water to kill any germs. The problem was that the water was all sandy; all the sand settled down to the bottom and when you turned the spigot, all you got was wet sand.

WWII-Services/New Guinea.
Ink drawing of a truck filled with a large load of mail bags and soldiers on top, labeled "A.P.O. 711."
Verso: "Nov. 14, 1944. Scene just outside APO #711 while some mail was being brought in and while I was waiting for this truck to leave so ours could pull in and I could load our mail on. For all my labors I got one v-mail letter but also got the satisfaction of not doing any training (asinine stuff that it is)."
Maurice explained that APO stands for Army Post Office and each had a regional number. V-mail was single sheet with a place to write the address on one side and the letter on the other; it would fold up so that it created it's own envelope for mailing.

Description
WWII-Services/New Guinea.
Ink drawing of an open front building with a flag on top, labeled, "Dispensary." Non-descriptive people inside, two outside and the hood of a jeep in the left foreground.
Verso: "Thursday - 21 Dec 44. This is the dispensary to which I went to have that charley horse taken care of. It is the dispensary at the negro outfit near us and and since its the nearest one to the clerk's school we go there. The doctor is white and all the enlisted men are colored. The bulletin beside the entrance is a pin up board covered with negress pinup girls. The round bunches on the tree in the left part of the picture are betel nuts (so I am told) and are chewed by the natives. They are said to be mildly intoxicant and discolor the teeth of the chewer, staining them red & giving them a perpetual 'pink tooth brush' appearance."
Maurice explained when you went to dispensary you went there because you weren't feeling well enough to work. The guys in charge of the unit would think that you were all goofing off if you took time to go to the dispensary. So if you didn't get sent to the hospital, they would put you to work cleaning M1 Garand rifles left over from WWI with gasoline so would be sure to be sick.

Description
WWII-Tent Life/New Guinea.
Charcoal or black pencil drawing of tents on platforms with the sides of the tents rolled showing the cots inside, labeled, "Tents-14 Ack Ack Command."
Maurice explained that Ack Ack is an abbreviation for Anti-Aircraft. The platforms of the tents were spaced a fixed distance apart. The side flaps of two tents would be lifted up and tied together to make a continuous roof and create a dryer corridor between them. The laundry had to be kept off the floor because the rats would be attracted to them. There were no carnivores on New Guinea and the ships that came in carried Norway rats. Huge rats; the size of a cat or larger, infested the island killing the some of the natural animal life.

The lack of clothing is accounted for by the fact that the boys bathe while washing. Clothes lines are hung from the trees for drying clothes. The creek is in a small ravine just to the rear of the men. On the opposite bank are telephone poles on the left and trailers on the right. The tree at the right looks as if it had been shot off as does the stump just to the right of it. This is undoubtedly so since there are many Jap pillboxes around, all destroyed."
Maurice explained that the 50 gallon drums were used for everything. in this case to create a stove for boiling water to clean their clothes.

The mosquito bars are hung up above the cots. At night they are lowered keeping the mosquitoes, which are outside, outside; and those which are inside, inside. Of course, when all is considered, less mosquitoes bite you, although the ones who do bite you bite oftener. When gorged with one's corpuscles they are said to desist from further biting. Should the victims blood supply give out before they have had their fill they also then cease biting and fly about the inside of the mosquito bar uttering muffled curses sotto voce."

Maurice explained the trucks were sent in pieces and assembled by whatever company was going to use them. That way they could pack more compact crates. One crate had one truck. During the war they were having trouble getting ships to send supplies (trucks, ammunition, guns) so the army had a contest of who could make the best suggestion for storing more supplies. The person won the contest had a very, very simple suggestion that they squash the toilet paper rolls flat.

Description
Michigan State University/Army Specialized Training Program (MSU ASTP) - WWII Drawings.
Pencil cartoon drawing of two men doing carpentry with a big pot belly stove in the background. Caption reads, "Mr. Grout & I at work -- I am acting as ballast to keep plank from moving."
Maurice explained that while he was waiting to be drafted he finished two years in college. During that time someone told him the Coast Guard was hiring civilians to work at their stations and had hired a retired cabinet maker to contribute to the war effort. The first task was to make a waterproof water trough from 2" x 8" planks. Maurice was hired to be his temporary assistant. Some of those planks were warped so Maurice was to him sit on them to flatten it out. When the coast guard found out that was all the cabinet maker would let him do; they gave him a job as a painter.

Bomb Sight Technical Drawing, details 1943
Creator

Subject

Denver - Lowry Field
WWII
Description
Denver - Lowry Field - WWII Drawings.
Pencil technical drawing of a three wheeled mechanical bombsight.
Maurice explained the drawing as a tall elevated vehicle built of pipe with small wheels and a motor. At the top was the platform with the bombsight mounted on a raised holder hooked up to an electronic magnet and a nail. They practiced in a large hanger with a Coca-Cola bottle at one end and the bombsight machine platform on the other. The person on the platform would sight in on the Coca-Cola bottle from the other end of the hanger. When it was in sight they would turn on the machine and instead of guiding a plane it would guide the platform driven by an electric motor. The object was to aim the bombsight from the platform to the bottle, start the bombsight platform, so that when the platform moved down to where the bottle was, the magnet would release and the nail would drive down the neck of the coca cola bottle. This was to teach them to aim the bombsight properly. It was very accurate. Nordon was the name of the bombsight and one of the greatest secrets of the early war. Diagram names the different parts. The drawing was done in Denver, Colorado where Maurice was studying to be a bombsight mechanic. When he graduated he was kept on as a math teacher. When they found he wasn't capable of teaching math they uses his artist talents to draw the technical manuals.

Abstract
Knitting has existed since the Middle Ages, and continues to thrive well into twenty-first century America. Why do people continue to knit, and why do knitters form themselves into social groups? This senior thesis investigates these and related questions in order to understand the culture of knitting and how knitters keep the practice alive. Drawing on participant observation and oral interviews, it further examines the identities knitters construct as members of knitting communities in rural Oregon, the differences in the craft based on the knitting practices employed, the materials and the patterns used, the gender ideologies of learning how to knit, and the role of online interactions.

Abstract
This action research project examines my experience teaching and learning how to teach more effectively to secondary school art students learning online and in-person during the Covid-19 pandemic. The following questions were asked and answered: What tools am I able to apply to support activist art in the classroom? How can I use drawing activities to lower student anxiety levels in-person and online and provide continuity across face-to-face and online class meetings? In what ways can I differentiate drawing activities to provide access for diverse learners? While using qualitative research for my methodology, and journaling, interviews, and comparisons as my data collection, I discovered the following themes while examining my data: subject matter, critical thinking, connection, grace, interaction, multiple-pathways, and meeting them where they are. More research should be conducted to find ways to differentiate art education to have more opportunities for flow in the classroom. Along with more research about how important art education is for assisting students in their learning of other subjects. And finally, more research should be conducted to discover how to create a more effective online learning environment.

Abstract
While business analytics increases its use in gaining data driven insights in supporting business decision making, there has been little research done concerning some of the mechanisms that business analytics uses in improving decision making. Drawing on contingency theory and information processing views, this paper analyzes data analytics, linking IBM Watson Analytics to organizations such as an analytics analyzing airline survey, as well as how data analytics helps in decision making. The purpose of this study is, therefore, to examine the data analytics in decision making. This study examines the history of data analytics and the significance of data analytics while reviewing the traditional business intelligence solutions. Additionally, this study provides a statement of problems demonstrating the features and capabilities of IBM Watson analytics; business components, including the benefits offered by business analytics and cost involved; technology components and IBM Watson Analytics demonstration; and results. IBM Watson results show that it intelligently connects, analyzes, and secures data, hence, improving decision making, as well as customer service. Therefore, the key results and findings show that business analytics positively impact the capability of information processing, which in turn, positively influences decision making. This study’s results supports literature from business analytics through inclusion of useful insights into applications, features, and capabilities of IBM Watson Analytics and assistance of data driven decision-making while comparing IBM Watson Analytics with other tools in decision-making.

Abstract
In this paper I sought to understand whether narcocorridos represent an aberration or a continuation of the corrido tradition. Drawing upon the subaltern theories advanced by Antonio Gramsci, we find that corridos represent a form of cultural communication in an extremely class stratified society. The concept of the social bandit as conceived by the British Marxist historian Eric Hobsbawm sheds further light on how and why heroes—or anti-heroes—are treated not only as real men, but archetypal manifestations of agency and self-determination that is out of reach for all but a few. Exploring the historic roots of the Mexican corrido we see that the narcocorrido is deeply rooted in Mexican culture, and like the traditional corridos of the Revolutionary period represent a narrative attempt to reconcile complex and often contradictory elements of daily life in a country ‘at war.’

Description
Faux limestone and brass.
Plaque reads, "Self-Reflection Progression consists of three variations of the same image: a line drawing made of a circular mild steel with a flat bar frame; a tonal terrazzo relief composted of a terrazo medallion in a stainless steel frame; and dimensional portrait made of faux limestone in a solid brass frame. The work alludes to the potentiality for an ever increasing depth and dimensionality of our humanity. Upon reflection, we might realize that what we saw when we looked into a mirror as a youth was a mere sketch or simple portrait of our ultimate human potential (line drawing). As out studies and experiences progress, the simple outline transforms and our self-reflection becomes more nuanced and dimensional (terazzo piece). Portrait is the culminating piece in the series of portraits and represent a further stage of growth and development, an emergence from mere reflection, and thus a progression of greater value."

Abstract
Much Linguistic Landscape scholarship relies on visual data collection, primarily the use of still photography; however, the field has yet to address the theoretical underpinning of such visual and spatial representation. Furthermore, digital video is currently as easy to capture and share as digital photographs were when Linguistic Landscape studies first became prominent in the early 2000s. With these two points in mind, this article first grounds the documentation and analysis of the Linguistic Landscape in a theory of visual representation; it then provides a framework for videographic methodologies drawing on recent work in the related fields of anthropology and cultural geography. An example study utilizing non-participatory videography is summarized in which digital video recordings were used to capture and convey the Linguistic Landscape.

Captikwł and The Laws of Nature
Abstract
In this paper, I explore how the Syilx's oral history (captikwł) shapes their identity and ethics through their understanding and respect for mother earth. I analyzed the captikwł of the Syilx and their discourses about life; drawing on their orature (written oral history) to demonstrate that because oral history is an important aspect of Syilx culture, the Syilx people of the British Columbia and Washington region have learned to survive for centuries due to how they relate to their lands. The anthology of the Syilx captikwł are reviewed in the paper to gain a better understanding of how this collection of stories inspire an environmental ethical philosophy and justice that is deeply rooted in their identity as indigenous people and practiced across generations
