Abstract: This project aimed to examine whether a shift in high expectations for students to diligently apply their time to sharpen their skills would increase the value they placed on pushing themselves to explore further what they can do with their art projects. Using a warm demander approach, I insisted that my students meet higher expectations, practice self-control, and deeply engage with the work they did in my class.
