Abstract
-
This action research study examined the impact of integrating yoga and mindfulness practices into a third and fourth grade art classroom to support student self-regulation, engagement, and classroom climate. Over twelve weeks, students participated in brief meditation, breathing exercises, yoga, and mindful movement embedded within art instruction. Data were collected through lesson plans, teacher reflection journals, classroom observations, student work, and mentor feedback. Findings indicated improvements in students' emotional readiness, attention, classroom participation, and peer relationships. The study suggests that integrating embodied mindfulness practices into elementary art education provides and effective approach for supporting whole-child development and creating positive learning environments.
