Description: Dr. Montana Hopkins Richards Walking Bull was a humanities professor from 1963-1978, and she was a member of the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma. A nationally recognized scholar and author, she passed away at the age of 74.

The plaque reads "In memory of Dr. Montana H. R. Walking Bull 1913-1987 Teacher Author Friend '...Like the sacred eagle my spirit roams on this sacred mother earth.'"

This memorial sequoia tree is located in the Grove near the New Physical Education Building.
