Description
This Katsura tree was planted in honor of Western Oregon State College (WOSC) parents on June 9, 1990. Native to China and Japan, this deciduous tree typically grows 40-60ft high. The rounded, heart-shaped leaves develop a "soft apricot-orange color" in the fall, particularly if grown in acid soil. The Symbol of Life Tree and Plaque is located on the east lawn of the New Physical Education building just to the right of the sidewalk.

The plaque reads "A symbol of life dedicated to parents who have given so much of themselves for the education of their children. Commencement, June 1990."
