Description
-
Train Illustrations - (Illinois to California) - WWII Drawings.
Two pencil drawings of the Utah landscape made on the train while traveling to Marysville, California.
(1.) "California's Sierra Nevadas - These mountains are covered with trees instead of the low grassy vegetation of the Rockies. True to tradition, today is very nice and sunny and I am in 'Sunny California.' "
(2.) "Keddie, California. This is the station area of the town. The town itself is in a valley to the right and is a nice clean little town constructed almost wholly of redwood buildings. There were some carpenters working on the building at the right. They had just constructed a framework for an extension on the building. There was lumber laying all around."
