Description
WWII-Work Assignments/New Guinea.
Ink drawing of one man digging a ditch and two men sitting watching.
Verso: "30 Dec 44. Our afternoon detail consisted of our digging a drainage ditch as part of our local malaria control work. As with the natives, one man does most of the work while the others aid with their advice, helpful you may be sure since I was an adviser. A good job was done and everyone was happy which is all that matters."
Maurice explained that the ditch was to drain water away from the tents and stop water from pooling where mosquitos could breed.
