Description

WWII-Work Assignments/New Guinea.
Ink drawing of several men sitting or standing, watching while one man is digging. Jungle foliage is the background.
Verso: "3 Jan. 45. This afternoon we had no class. Instead we dug oursleves a nice new latrine and elevated it. The figure with arms akimbo is our instructor Lt. Dismore ['eu' is crossed out and replaced with an 'i', a note, states 'correction by censor']. Note the activity, two men working instead of the usual one. It was quite a job but was fairly well done."
