Description
WWII-Services/New Guinea.
Ink drawing of an open area with screen tables, labeled, "Mess Hall from 'Dining Room'." Stacked supplies and a large truck are in the background.
Verso: "Nov. 15, 1944. My second session of K.P. This sketch was the first time (last Saturday) and finished this morning. The table tops are made of wire stripping. In the background is the Mess Hall. The wagon is a steam wagon for steam cooking and the drum on a stand is its fuel supply. The tent at the extreme right is hallowed ground not to be trodden on by the K.P.s, the officer's mess tent."
Maurice explained that the table they ate at was just a kind of woven metal.
