Abstract
-
his paper looks at how the environment was damaged from the eruption and how this damage initially hurt the identities of Washington and Oregon. The identities will be defined by examining the high value products that Washington and Oregon are known for such as their crops, animal products, and tourism. Just as the environment recovered, so did the identity of Washington and Oregon. Because of the way the eruption of Mount Saint Helens occurred, the identity of Washington and Oregon actually became stronger.
