Abstract
-
What this paper will discuss is how paranoia mixed with conspiracy theories came to dominate this period in American history. With this we see a dramatic rise in the amount of UFO sightings. Science fiction tales of the time period helped to push this along. Thereby it worked its way into every part of post-World War II society. Why did this happen? What were the elements that gave birth to this phenomenon? This paper will aim to show that paranoia caused by the Cold War environment worked to create these aspects of popular culture.
