Peter and Rachel Butler describe the health of the family in the Oregon Territory, and the continuing war with the Indians. Isaac Butler has returned from the fighting, but Thomas Hutchinson has recently joined the militia and left for the war. Peter Butler inquires about the money that John Butler should has sent him. An addendum from Peter discusses an insurance matter and the prices of goods in the Oregon Territory.
