Segundo Luengo and his son Enrique would check on the cattle regularly. The latter included sheep, goats, and cows. The first two were consumed by the family whereas all of the steers were sold and the cows milked to make cheese. The goats specialized in eating wild blackberry vines, which checked the growth of this unwanted plant.
